Axial Memory
(2026)
Shades of Grey series
Axial Memory organizes contrast along a central vertical line. Roughly fifty layered sheets of black and white paper are carved into elongated, horizontal forms that extend toward and away from the axis.
The structure suggests geological accumulation interrupted by incision. Repetition becomes memory. The vertical spine anchors the composition, preventing collapse while allowing movement to circulate around it.
Subtle red intrusions flicker within the strata, not as narrative but as energetic disturbance. They do not dominate. They punctuate.
Where Ringed Aperture concentrates tension inward, Axial Memory distributes it laterally. The eye moves horizontally, encountering recurring forms that echo but never duplicate one another. Interdependence here is rhythmic rather than radial.
