Black #4
(2022)
Ashes series
Black #4 introduces a new orientation beneath the dark surface. Horizontal bands of color emerge through longer cuts, creating the sensation of movement contained by force. The energy still resists, but it begins to register as flow rather than rupture. The field feels less chaotic, more rhythmic, as if the interior has started to organize itself despite constraint.
The work reflects the moment when chaos reveals pattern. Direction is tentative but present, no longer random, no longer purely reactive. Color spreads rather than sparks. Pressure remains, but it is shaping rather than shattering the composition.
Within Ashes, Black #4 signals a pivotal turn. Motion stops exploding outward and begins to align, suggesting that transformation is becoming structural rather than volatile.
