Black #3
(2022)
Ashes series
Black #3 expands the fracture opened in Black #2, creating an angular network across the dark field. Color appears trapped within narrow channels, held in place by pressure rather than intention. The surface reads as internal structure rather than event, revealing a system under stress without release. The cuts feel deliberate, yet constrained, as if movement has been mapped but not permitted to travel.
This piece speaks to the density of transformation when nothing is surrendered easily. The carving carries the sensation of histories pressing outward, not as catharsis, but as demand. Emergence hovers at the edge. The surface holds possibility without resolution, direction without momentum.
